of Weaving Remembrance
ABOUT
Hanna Leigh Van Tatenhove
(pronounced Hah-nah-LAY) is a musician, singer, weaver, and lifelong student of the Earth, devoted to remembering the ancient ways of being human and bringing them into the world we are creating today.
Her known ancestors came from Scotland, England, Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands, eventually making their way to North America many generations ago. Raised in California on Chumash territory, Hanna Leigh has since made homes in Oregon, on Wasco and Multnomah lands, and on Maui, in the ancestral homeland of the Kānaka Maoli. More recently, her journey has brought her to the British Isles, where she has been walking an extended ancestral pilgrimage, listening to the stones, landscapes, and wisdom of the lands her ancestors once called home.
Since her early twenties, Hanna Leigh has followed a winding and unconventional path, guided by curiosity, devotion, and a desire to live in deeper relationship with the natural world. Along the way, she has worked as a Kundalini yoga teacher, massage therapist specializing in abdominal and pelvic work, birth and postpartum doula, organic farmer,
and touring musician.
Though these paths may appear different, each has taught her something about the art of being human:
tending the body, honoring the cycles of life, working with the land, and remembering the wisdom that lives within us.

Through it all, two threads have remained constant: her love for singing and her devotion to the Earth.

Music as Remembrance
Singing has always been one of Hanna Leigh's greatest teachers.
For her, singing is so much more than making music. It is a way of listening inward, of giving sound to what lives beneath words, and of weaving together thought, emotion, body, and spirit.
Through song, she comes to better understand what is moving within her. Singing brings her into the present moment and reminds her that the human body is not separate from the living world around it.
Her music is an offering of gratitude for this life, in all its beauty, complexity, grief, and wonder.
Through song, she seeks to honor the ineffable beauty of Nature, the wisdom of our ancestors, and the great work of healing and repair unfolding on Earth.
Weaving Remembrance
Hanna Leigh's own journey of ancestral healing and reconnection led her to found Weaving Remembrance, an evolving home for remembering the Earth-based wisdom, songs, traditions, and ways of living that have sustained our ancestors for generations.
Through offerings such as Songs of Mother Europe, Weaving Remembrance creates opportunities to explore ancestral song, cultural memory, and our relationship with the living world.

At the heart of this work is a simple understanding: remembrance is not only about looking backward.
It is about how we choose to live today.

It is about remembering how to listen to the land, how to work with our hands,
how to sing together, how to tend one another, and how to live in reciprocity
with the many beings and forces that sustain our lives.
Hanna Leigh believes these ways of being are not lost to us.
They are waiting to be remembered, practiced, and woven
into the fabric of our everyday lives.

An Invitation
Hanna Leigh's work is an ongoing exploration of what it means to be fully human, rooted in the Earth, connected to our ancestors, and in loving relationship with the world around us.
Whether through music, weaving, ancestral arts, or gathering in community, her prayer is to help cultivate spaces where people can remember the beauty and responsibility of belonging
to this living world.
She is humbled to walk this path and grateful for the opportunity
to share its unfolding with others.
May we remember together.
